I've been writing stories since the third grade and working on the series since 2006.  For the first several years, the story created itself in my head.  One day, I was talking to a friend of mine and told her about the story.  She loved it and thought I should first, write it down, and second, get it published.

I showed the "completed work" to a publisher in 2008 who loved it, but made some suggestions to improve my writing skills and told me it needed to be a four book series.  For the next several years, I focused on my writing craft.  During this time, I move to San Antonio.  When I felt ready to try publishing again, I contacted the publisher, who still loved the story, but needed me to be local in North Carolina.  At that point, I decided to become an Indy published author.

While all my work is fiction, there are true stories embedded inside of them from my own personal experiences or from people whom I have interviewed.  The Hallie McKinley Series includes two live characters (real people), who love interacting with the fictional characters.  Can you guess who they are? 

 

I also love to bring in places I have traveled as settings.  The series is full of these places from the main settings to the places they travel when they are on tour.  In my study, there is a picture board full of photographs I've taken of all the places.  I actually drive IH-10 all the time traveling from San Antonio to Florida.  I have a photograph of the exit sign where they stop in Identity.
